How to fix Apache – “Could not reliably determine the server’s fully qualified domain name, using 127.0.1.1 for ServerName” Error on Ubuntu

edit the /etc/apache2/httpd.cong

$sudo vim /etc/apache2/httpd.conf

usually it will be blank…add the following to httpd.conf

ServerName localhost

if httpd.conf contains some data then add at the top like this…

ServerName localhost
<Directory /var/www>
Options Indexes Includes FollowSymLinks MultiViews
#AllowOverride AuthConfig
AllowOverride all
Order allow,deny
Allow from all
</Directory>

Now restart apache the problem is fixed 🙂

$sudo /etc/init.d/apache2 restart
